NEXT MEETING: Friday April 3, 2026
Our April meeting will be a two-part program.
First Bob Parnell, NØKLC will present a brief history of computers, how they work and how
the internet works. Then he will turn it over to his son, Doug Parnell.
Doug is a 5-year Journeyman Technician at Matrix-NDI in Minneapolis, currently acting as a
superintendent at the Applied Digital Campus in Ellendale, ND (65 miles south of Jamestown,
ND). This is one of the largest data centers being constructed in the country. He is a second
generation self-taught voice and data tech with multiple certifications on different products, a
NICET certification and also a licensed power-limited technician through the State of
Minnesota, all without formal schooling.
Doug will discuss the enormity of the project, and will have some fiber samples to demonstrate
jack terminations. He is unable to bring a fiber splicer because they are all in use all weekend.
(… and they cost $40K each!)
